Crystal: The Legend of the Sun Warrior: WA Review/Preview

synopsis:
Crystal’s your average teenage girl—she likes music, goes to school, and plays sports… At least during school hours. When the bell rings and it’s time to go home, she goes to work, more specifically the Chinese Counter Terrorism Task Force 9. She’s stopped numerous terrorists before, receiving national recognition for her service. All of that is flipped upside down, however, when she finds out that she is the Sun Warrior—a warrior of Chinese prophecy that would have to protect China from a violent overthrow of power. Unfortunately, her enemy is one that is far more powerful than anyone she’s ever met before.
These were my real-time thoughts as I read it:
Part 1
So right off the bat, we get right into the action, with Crystal running across shanghai’s roof tops chasing after an armored truck belonging to the terrorist group known as the ‘Draco Committee’. Can she catch up to it in time and stop it from doing some major damage? She takes a leap of faith and jumps off the roof and onto the back of the truck - awesome.
The P.O.V changes in the next scene and we’re introduced to Liden Blake as he heads on home. He spots the truck making its way dangerously down the streets. He looks for a local hero to notify; you know, like the authorities or something, man. But there’s none in sight. Alarmed he decides to take action. But what can he do, he’s a seemingly ordinary teenage boy … and oops, it looks like the truck’s gonna run him over.
P.O.V changes again and we meet the sinister but beautiful Syria Alsharia; the leader of the Draco Committee and the heir-apparent of the so-called ‘Empire of the Alsharia Dynasty’, as she makes her way down the street. She’s contemplating dark things indeed. So, she’s the main baddie of the story and sent that truck to rob a Chinese bank for the funds needed for arms and all manner of ‘Bombcraft’.
We switch back to Crystal’s P.O.V and it looks like she’s manage to stop the truck and Draco Committee’s dark plans for now. Oh, and she saved poor Linden … and it looks like they know each other from somewhere - interesting. On to the next part.
So Crystal and Linden are rivals of sorts — cool. I wonder what the history behind their antagonism is, I mean the dude isn’t even grateful that she saved his life.
Syria learns that her plan to rob the Chinese bank was a botch; she knows it was foiled by Crsytal, hmm, it seems they know each other too. Her general says something about a prophesy, I wonder what that’s about.
Syria doesn’t seem the least bit worried about anyone trying to get in her way of state domination, in fact she welcomes the challenge; she’s the real deal - a total badass.
Linden gets home to find out he’s being transferred to another school, he isn’t at all happy with this news — he storms off angrily. I wonder what his role is in the grand scheme of things.
Crystal hears about the ominous prophesy, and it turns out she’s destined to be ‘The Sun Warrior’ - cool, I’m getting pumped.
Her grandmother is proud, Crystal doesn’t seem to happy to hear this, though.
Syria decides to put her plan into full development, can’t wait to see what happens.
Part 3
Okay so, Shanghai Intelligence Agency comes across an interesting bit of intel concerning Syria and the Draco committee, this is forwarded to CTTF-9. So Crystal knows it’s on.
We learn a bit more about Syria; she’s very well educated and mighty intelligent too. Looks like she knows that somehow Crystal we’ll try to stop the so-called ‘Operation Baofeng Zhanshi’. It seems she’s planned something wicked for Crystal.
But what’s this?! Crystal will not be taking part in the mission to take down the Draco Committee. She’s been assigned to guard Isuro Isuwara’s daughter. Isuwara is this super star CTTF-9 agent. He sounds legendary.
Isuwara’s daughter, Masamuni, will be going to the same school as Crystal, eh? I wonder if she’s anything like her father, or even Crystal. I wonder if it’s the same school Liden is headed to? I guess I’ll have to read on to find out.
